The laboratory uses the Nihon kohden haematology analyser, the is used to measure the white & red blood cell values, the haemaglobin content and other constituents of the blood cells.
We also run a manual differential to examine the morphology and physiology of the patient blood. This allows us to detect any abnormalities within the different types of blood cells to aid diagnosis of disease such as anaemia and leukaemia. This also helps us detect other abnormalities such as allergies or parasitic conditions.
The turn around time for the haematology samples is the same day and we endeavor to report all samples received in the post by lunchtime.
